Seeking Education at Age 50
Q: My question is … I’m in the 50-ish year of life and due to physical injuries, can no longer do the career I was doing previously. Due to my age some of the career choices that I could make earlier in life are no longer desirable as a bonafide career choice … I’m currently looking in the Info Technology field … Any recommendations on what to do next ???
A: It’s never to late to think about getting the right kind of education. Given your age and the need you probably have to work while studying, you’ll want to think about two things. One is getting a degree that is immediately practical. Something in IT might be good. Another consideration is finding a school that allows you to take credit for what you already know and to study at your own pace. Western Governors University (WGU) has an approach that addresses both needs and might be right for you. They’re good folks.
